Unbreakable security: Ajax Systems’ AES-128 encryption is now NIST-certified

Ajax Systems proudly announces the NIST certification of AES-128 encryption, confirming its unbreakable security.

As the largest manufacturer of security systems in Europe, Ajax Systems strives to achieve the most prestigious and important certifications for security standards, both at the hardware and software level.

We are pleased to announce that our proprietary HtS protocol’s encryption is approved by NIST. For partners and end users, this is an assurance of the reliability of their data transmissions through Ajax systems.

AES-128 encryption is a symmetric block cipher chosen by the highly respected National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to protect classified information. NIST certification proves that Ajax user and device data is virtually impossible for attackers to access. All Ajax hubs use AES-128 encryption.

What is AES?

The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) specifies a cryptographic algorithm that can be used to protect electronic information. The AES algorithm is a symmetric block cipher. It can encrypt (encipher) and decrypt (decipher) digital information.

The AES algorithm can use cryptographic keys of 128, 192, and 256 bits to encrypt and decrypt data in blocks of 128 bits. Block ciphers are the basis for many cryptographic services, especially those that ensure the confidentiality of data.

AES encryption is critical for securing various aspects of digital communication, including Wi-Fi networks, online payments, data storage, messaging platforms, health records, e-commerce transactions, VPN services, etc., providing robust protection.

AES was approved by NIST in 2000. However, its requirements are revised every five years to ensure it remains a reliable response to ever-changing cybersecurity challenges.

Secure communication

To communicate securely with Ajax Cloud, all Ajax hubs use the proprietary hub-to-server (HtS) protocol, which is strengthened by AES-128 encryption. This ensures data integrity and confidentiality. Created by NIST, AES-128 remains unbreakable to this day, providing an impenetrable shield against data spoofing and sabotage attempts.

Mathematical calculations show that it would take thousands of years to break AES 128, even on a supercomputer. At present, there is no known practical attack that would allow someone without knowledge of the key to read data encrypted by AES if implemented correctly. This is yet another testament to the quality and reliability of Ajax products.

Keeping data secure with AES

With our NIST certification, you can be assured that we adhere to the following.

👉 Secure communication: when the Ajax hub communicates with the Ajax Cloud server, AES-128 encryption ensures that all data transmitted between the hub and the cloud is securely encrypted. This prevents unauthorized access to sensitive information, such as all alarms and events, maintenance data, user commands via apps, etc.

👉 End-to-end encryption: AES-128 enables end-to-end encryption, meaning that data is encrypted on the hub before transmission and decrypted on the cloud servers upon receipt. This ensures that even if data is intercepted in transit, it is unintelligible to unauthorized parties without the encryption keys.

👉 Compliance and standards: Ajax Systems adheres to industry best practices and standards for encryption and data security. Using AES-128, they demonstrate their commitment to user privacy and compliance with regulations governing the protection of personal and sensitive information.

This certification validates the reliability of Ajax Systems’ partners. It is a badge of honor. It demonstrates Ajax Systems’ unwavering commitment to security. End users can be assured that their data will remain confidential and secure using AES-128 encryption.
